Mohamad Midani, Ph.D.

Managing Partner

Dr. Mohamad Midani is an Assistant Professor at the Materials Engineering Department, German University Cairo, Egypt. He is also the managing partner of inTEXive consulting, Secretary General of the International Association of Palm Byproducts, and member of the Advisory Board of Middle East Company for Textiles. Dr. Midani has long experience in the textile industry, with a focus on technical textiles and composites, with an ongoing research collaboration and consulting to the industry. His research mostly focuses on natural fibers and fiber reinforced composites, and he is the inventor of the long textile fibers from the midribs of date palm (PalmFil). He is also the co-founder of the World Conference on Palm Byproducts and their Applications (ByPalma). He published more than 25 articles in international journals and conferences in addition to co-editing two books. Dr. Midani is a reviewer to several international journals from different publishers. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites as well as New Product development and Innovation Management. In 2016, Dr. Midani received a recognition for excellence in teaching from NC State University, and in 2019 from the American University in Cairo. Dr. Midani has his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Ain Shams University (2006), MT in Textiles & Apparel Technology and Management (2012), and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from the College of Textiles NC State University (2016). Dr. Midani is a certified New Product Development Professional (NPDP) and a member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) and co-founder and member of the board of PDMA Egypt chapter.

Ahmed Hassanin, Ph.D.

Dr. Ahmed Hassanin has an extensive experience in the textiles and composites industry during the last 15 years. He is currently an Associate Professor of Textile Engineering at Alexandria University, he also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Egypt-Japan University for Science and Technology. Dr. Hassanin has many published research articles in the field of advanced fiber composites and he was part of a research group working on a project funded by NASA in improving the UV resistance of High performance fibers. He works closely with the industry and provides consulting services in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He has an extensive teaching portfolio, in Alexandria University, Egypt – Japan University, North Carolina State University as well as Istanbul Technical University. Dr. Hassanin has his BSc. And MSc. in Textile Engineering from Alexandria University, and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University

Tamer Hamouda, Ph.D.

Dr. Tamer Hamouda is an expert in technology management, feasibility studies, and business incubators management. He is currently a senior researcher at the Textile Research Division, National Research Center (NRC). He has established and currently managing the Textiles and Composites Center of Excellence at NRC. During his Ph.D. Dr. Hamouda taught several courses as a co-instructor for undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Hamouda has also developed smart fiber reinforced composite materials with embedded optical fibers that can be used in automotive, airplanes, and bridges and it has the capability of sensing the structure behavior and precisely detecting and localizing damages. Dr. Hamouda has his BSc. in Textile Engineering from Spinning, Weaving, and Knitting Department, Helwan University, MSc. in Nonwoven Materials from Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University.
